Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park is kicking butts by making Mini-Butts Personal Ashtrays available to visitors via their Cultural Centre.
"We were increasingly alarmed about the amount of cigarette butts being littered around Uluru Kata Tjuta, and No BuTTs personal ashtrays have solved the problem”, said Julie Wilson, Cultural Centre Coordinator at Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. "Mini-Butts give our visitors the ability to safely and easily dispose of their butts, no matter where they may be in our resort or anywhere else."
"The response from visitors, rangers and also maintenance staff has been 100% positive. There is now a clear and obvious decrease in the amount of butts littering Uluru, and our surrounding areas."
Mini-Butts personal ashtray dispensers are located at the Cultural Centre and signs inform patrons about the problem of cigarette butt litter, and advise of Mini-Butts availability.
“Apart from the environmental impacts of cigarette butt litter, we at Uluru are proud of our international reputation and we strive to set the benchmark for environmental protection, whilst maintaining best practice environmentally responsible trading at all times”, said Ms Wilson.
"The other very important factor to consider is the danger of fires being started from litterd cigarette butts. Obviously, by providing visitors with Mini-Butts Personal Ashtrays this problem is also basically eliminated. We've never had a smoker that didn't think using our personal ashtrays was a great idea and a simple solution to the problem of what to do with their butts."
