BGC Contracting is distributing No BuTTs award winning Personal Ashtrays to their staff and contractors to eliminate cigarette butt litter at their project locations.
"BGC should be applauded for their high standards of environmental responsibility." said No BuTTs Managing Director, Jack Jacobson.
"Mining and Civil companies spend millions of dollars every year to protect the environment, although most of their endeavours go unoticed by the public. But these days everyone notices when someone litters their butt and if they're in work gear, uniform or in or near one of their corporate vehicles, then it's the company whose public image is damaged."
"Butt littering is not a good look."
BGC Contracting's new
Personal Ashtrays incorporate a printed QR Code that instantly opens their website when scanned by a Smartphone, Ipad or Tablet. Additionally, BGC's Personal Ashtrays also include the slogan "Protect our environment. Better still - quit smoking."
"Sadly, there are many organisations out there that know they have a problem with staff and contractors littering their butts, but because these days smoking is such a contentious issue, many of them are dragging their feet when it comes to dealing with this insidious environmental issue." said Jack.
"We've even heard the occasional comment or concern that "if we distribute personal ashtrays, aren't we in some way encouraging smoking?" - but that is a complete fallacy. It's like saying that by providing sunscreen to their people, they are encouraging them to go out and get sunburned."
"So to completely eliminate any misconceptions more and more of our clients are choosing to print that slogan, which specifically encourages the smoker
not to smoke but to quit!"
That's why over 85% of our Personal Ashtrays clients are now utilising that slogan when they order or reorder their logo
printed Personal Ashtrays."
The BGC Group is one of Australia's largest privately owned companies, which presently employs more than 4,000 people.
"By taking a proactive approach to the reality that many of their staff and contractors smoke, BGC is not only helping to protect our environment from toxic butt litter, they are also protecting their public image which is just as important."
